Everybody loves the story of the three little pigs - what could be cuter than pigs in building hats?! Well obviously not. I was pointed to this article by Simon, saying how the Three Little Pigs
“could not [be] recommended - to the Muslim community”.
- also - the story might ‘alienate parts of the workforce (building trade)’.
It went on to say
“Is it true that all builders are cowboys, builders get their work blown down, and builders are like pigs?”
Well actually when you look at some builders bums you do begin to wonder…
But seriously, next thing they’ll be saying is Cinderella is not suitable because of people who don’t have any shoes to loose, and what about snow white - adulterous bitch - 7 men?! What kind of a message is that giving?
This story actually made my blood boil. Honestly, what kind of madness is this that my children and my children’s children may not grow up with the legendary phrase “not by the hairs of our chinny chin chins, we will not let you in”
I’m all for cultural diversity, but can we please be sensible and think how many builders and Muslims have actually complained about this harmless children’s story - I think its an insult to these groups to believe they would be so petty.
In other news which isn’t
The coffee which makes you fat
and in reply I say
No shit sherlock, coffee, with cream, full fat milk, lard, chocolate syrup, chocolate sprinkles and marshmallows with a muffin has a lot of calories in?
*eye rolling*
Had my General studies exam today, and cleverly managed to get ‘teacup’ into my answer in which we had to respond to the arrest of tree huggers who had been camped out in a tree which was to be knocked down for the development of houses (I kid you not, that was the situation we were given, and we had to identify the problem, whose fault it was and what to do about it…) I said that it was
“Irresponsible and hypocritical to leave litter such as crisp packets, cans and teacups, laying around as these could all be environmental hazards.”
I also gave my examiner a little :) and a “Have a Nice Day” at the end of the paper.

:) Have a Nice Day too
Last night I saw on the news about the university shooting.
Such destruction of talent and potential is so poignantly heart breaking
Obviously, my heart and thoughts go out to all over there. I can’t begin to imagine…
This also makes me FURIOUS.
I hate guns; if I had my way they’d be burnt in a large pit with any knowledge of them or how to make them, regardless for what they’re purpose was - sport or otherwise.
It sickens me how easy it is to get hold of one legally, and yet how no one seems prepared to do anything; many actually call for the laws to be relaxed. Obviously a full ban would never work. It didn’t work for alcohol and wont work for guns, but relaxing the laws would be ridiculous and a slur to the memory of these and so many other innocents who have been killed.
One of the victims in particular stuck out for me: Professor Liviu Librescu, died whilst holding the door shut so his students could escape. No only this but he was also a Holocaust survivor.
(naturally I’m not saying his death was any more tragic - all were.)

God Allmighty please save us.
Why…why…why do the Brittish Government feel the need to use youtube?
I mean it was bad enough when Call-me-Dave did it with ‘web-cameron’, but now the ACTUAL government?
I mean, who are they kidding? HOw are they meant to be taken seriously when they are fannying around on a youtube channel? Whilst youtube is obviously a brilliant service, its not meant to be used for this…
Have a look at some NHS bullshit if you will…

I was watching the news and I saw the very sad case of how “A woman left infertile after cancer therapy has lost her fight to use embryos fertilised by an ex-partner.”.
Whilst I can understand how difficult it must have been for Mr Johnston to have to make this decision, I am disgusted at the outcome.
Completely disgusted.
He says “I wanted to choose when - I would have a child.” but for me that is the point - he has that luxery of choice Ms Evans will never have. To me, it seems very selfish of him; I can appreciate not wanting a child with an ex-partner, but surely there would have been agreements available so he would not be responsible for the child(ren). He is denying a woman the right to become a biological mother. I cant understand how anyone could live with that decision.
I cannot imagine what Ms Evans is going through right now and my thoughts are with her.
Please feel free to fight back if you don’t agree, I enjoy a good debate!

The title is (if you didn’t already know, which I expect most would recognise) is a quote from literary genius, George Orwell and his book Animal Farm. However in this blog post I’m going to be discussing not the book, but the current TV programme (I can’t remember what Channel its on or anything useful like that!) In this show (called Animal Farm) they Genetically modify animals and I was watching episode three when I realised my mixture of thoughts could make for blog fodder so I did what any blogger might do; grabbed Biro and a scrap of paper and made notes.
The first animal they refered to was their goat~spider. No, not an eight legged beast with fangs, horns and a bell, but an ordinary looking Billy Goat. However, in the goats udder, they had implanted the genetic code for spider web - a material 5 x stronger than steel in a weight for weight contest, stretchier than nylon and just generally really cool - into the goast udder (or somewhere similar) so that the milk that goat produced had the additional protein for silk which they were then able to extract and per pint of milk, they were able to extract something like 700 meters of silk! Amazing! Seriously creepy and very odd, but amazing.
They then moved on to glow in the dark pigs - initiatlly I was outragraged on the neon-piggy’s behalf. What the bloody hell was the use in glow in the dark pigs? (My brother later told me that naturally it was to be able to eat bacon in the dark…duh) However as it moved on I realised it was the principle of being able to get every cell in the animals body to express that genetic code.
So far I was fascinated, slightly bemused but ok with it all. They then moved on the glow in the dark fish - they were the first GMAnimal pet you could buy. Now here is where I draw the line - medical advances and technological advances I’m cool with; if its got a purpose why not. But simply messing with genetics for financial gain…no. Sorry but its like testing animals for lipsticks; a waste of time and money (and in the lipstick case, cruel).
The next animal made me sit up. Yes, it was a horse! He was called Scamper; a barrel racing champion (I’m not a fan of barrel racing - but you decide that for yourself). SO he would be prime stud material, with sperm woth a fortune. Shame that he’s gelded…
So (for watever her motives may have been) Scamper’s owner decided to have him cloned and therefore create a stallion-stand in so to say. Thus Clayton was born; now once again animals here are being used for money; the stud buisness is worth unimaginable billions and a Stallion with the background Clayton has will mean a very lucrative carreer for him (provided he too has the same barrel racing talent) Obviously his owener is also providing a great service to the breeds gene pool and she is also providing magnificant bloodstock, but these both equal money (am I being too cynical?)
So there you go - have a chew on that hunk of (glowing) food for thought Lotsa Love
