:o 2 Posts in one day!?
OH MAH GOD I enjoyed riding so much today, and the reason why this needs a post is because I was showjumping! Yaaay!
Even more than that I was jumping uprights (jumps which have the poles laying horizontally, as opposed to cross poles where there are two poles layed across eachother to look luke a cross -> X) which scare me the most and I hseem to have a total mental block over them. Its ridiculous - I am very happy to jump cross poles pretty much any size, but uprights…just NO! However today I seem to have had some sort of epiphony and I approached every fence positivly (but at the same time at a reasonable and manageable speed that I chose rather than just letting Saxon have his own way) and absolutly nothing bad happened - its amazing what happens when you actually listen to your instructor whose telling you that no you will not die if you jump an upright and yes Saxon is perfectly capeable.
So its onwards from here and you never know, maybe with some fences that top 2′6″!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
How could they do this to us?! They spend two series building up the Dr to who he is now and then just at the moment everyone has been waiting for since Rose and he were separated, and they go and get him to regenerate. Sodding Daleks
She found him. She travelled across universes and she spent every moment trying to get in contact with him, to warn him.
I love David Tennant as the Doctor - he’s dynamic and angst-ridden and I feel like in this manifestation the Doctors clearly horrific past has so much more of an effect on him. Yet at the same time, you can see how that past has made him love all life so desperately and how it drives him to keep on trying, absolutely no matter the circumstance.
Oh *sigh* yes and it does help that David Tennant is just a little bit hot.

Well someone complained that I hadn’t written about how me and Bertie were getting on so just to please them (oh I’m so obliging) I’ll do one.
I really enjoy the freedom it gives me and that it means I don’t have to fight my brother everytime I want to go on. I also like that I have a webcam inbuilt, even if it comes out crappy on skype, and that the microphone is inbuilt to. Thumbs up for convienience. Uhm, as to the actual workings etc, I have no idea if Bertie is good or bad or medium - he does the job and thats all that matters to me.
That was interesting

…So tired…such a long day
TIRED
But I thought I’d be a dedicated blogger and now I can sit on my bed and tap away I figured I might as well blog about my wonderful day at Thorpe Park with James, Tom and Laura.
So yeh, we didn’t get to drive down, but I guess the point is more that we got to go, so that didn’t really matter and there were loads of junctions and stuff that we had to avoid due to accidents and traffic so I was probably way less stressed as a result.
We went on Zodiac, Nemisis Inferno (twice), Samuari, Vortex, Slammer, Stealth…and two other rides which I don’t remember the names of…anyway, they were all lots of fun and I’m actually a bit proud that I went on them all seeing as I don’t really like the rides that are all spinny, and Vortex (as the name would suggest) and Slammer are pretty much the epitome of the spinny swoopyness that I find most scary. Although I was pretty much forced on to them under the threat of leg breaking so I guess its really not that much of an achievement when you consider the alternative.
At lunch, I had fishcakes (yummeh) but after that, I seem to have got painful raw patches on the roof of my mouth that made talking a little painful (and later on made me sound stupid because I was trying to avoid touching the roof of my mouth with my toungue, after a few hours of active toungue poking in my usual manner of refusing to just leave things alone - when will I learn?) So I was less than impressed because I do like to talk.
My favourate ride was probably Nemisis or Stealth - Nemisis has always been a favourate when I’ve been on a few school trips in the past, and I really enjoyed the shock and rush I got from the increadible speed Stealth reached in such a short amount of time. Highlight of the day was going on Vortex after an hours que of being terrified (with the comforting words of Tom ringing in my ears “Your head is going to explode!”) and then actually finding it not so scary after all. Another achievement against the demon of fear!
So good times were had by all.
I’ll say goodnight now before my sleep deprived mind wonders off topic.

ps - still no spell checker. Pft
Had my summer BBQ 2008 yesterday, and asides being slightly less organised to begin with than last year and having to get guests to do stuff, it seemed to go very well :)
The water fight was wicked fun even if at numerous points I was ganged up on or Comber just used the hose (cheat!) and the weather was great for it (if a little windy)
Thanks again to Tom for the cooking - better than me setting fire to the sausages…or myself…
Also thanks to James for taking some brilliant photos and some really funny videos :D

The Vatican Bans Filming of “Angels & Demons”
Yes indeed, what a surprise, the Vatican banned a book which didn’t make the church out to be all easter bunnies and perfect priests. Yes the heracy - how dare someone suggest the infaliable papacy may not be as marble white as they’d want us to believe.
I was initially absolutly disguisted - sure, fine it was failry inevitable that they werent going to let them use the churches, but what the Archbishop said about the book displayed a clear lacking of understanding - well he said himself “Normally we read the script but this time it was not necessary. The name Dan Brown was enough.”
I guess that kind of makes me think a lot of people who say they don’t like certain parts of religion but don’t really know a whole lot about it are justified - if the Vatican can after all. This will just add fuel to a fire which really doesn’t need any encouragement.

As everyone does, I have both religious and non religious friends and family, and on both counts I know those who hold fairly strong views about either atheists and theists.
I’ve mostly been of the opinion “If it aint hurting me or being pushed in my face, I’m not bothered about what you do or do not believe” and I’ve tried to maintain that in the various discussions I’ve had. On youtube there is an obvious community of polytheists, atheists, agnostics and theists from all walks of life and invariably they argue.
There is one atheist user who I personally find repulsive. I quote his description
“I am an atheist and virulent anti-theist as well as a major advocate of freedom, even when said freedom is unpopular due to the general myopia of the public when giving such issues their due consideration.”
If you feel the need to go watch this ranting and raving bearded man for yourself, Go For It. I recommend all 6 (to date) “Just about Sick…” or my personal favourite “Re: Is rape actually wrong?”
Why someone has to be an anti-theist has eluded me due to my “live and let live” opinion. Whilst religion has never made sense to me, no one can deny it does help many people, just as much as no one can deny it causes a lot of pain and suffering. However, despite my utter disgust at the self professed “amazing atheist” Having watched the video I included above, I am beginning to understand why people are frustrated with religion being increasingly used as an infallible weapon in discussion. Yes, religion should be considered on certain issues - its part of the experience of humanity and so to ignore it would be just as ridiculous as using it solely as the basis for decision in these larger issues (I’m talking about the abortion laws etc) but it should not be used as an argument to end all arguments without need for explanation. In primary and high school I know we joked about the magical words “its against my religion” validating any of our actions. For example
“Did you do the maths homework?”
“Oh crap! I forgot. Oh well I’ll just say its against my religion.”
Yes, a flippant example but to me it does seem that many people do believe that just because something they believe in is part of their religious beliefs, everyone should also comply. I’ll admit to being cautious when talking about this kind of thing for fear of offending people, but I guess I’ve never really thought about theists offending me, which has obviously happened. Yet it also concerns me that both theists and atheists are becoming more and more extremist in thought and the way the express these thoughts and seem to have less time for each other as human beings rather than the ideas they might stand for. As Shakespeare said through Shylock in The Merchant of Venice “If you prick us, do we not bleed? If you tickle us, do we not laugh? If you poison us, do we not die?”

Yesterday, I was very excited to be going to see the new film The Happening - looking at the trailers it looked pretty damn good and I was really looking forward to it especially because the director is renowned for having fantastic plot twists (eg sixth sense)
When we did all finally get there after some fairly shambolic organisation (never let the boys do it - moral of the story) we did end up sitting at the front due to half our party being late and I really hate sitting at the front - I imagine most people do. Not only were we at the front but some dumb ass girls sitting behind us seemed to feel it was necessary to exclaim all the way along things which were happening.
Like “Its a doll”, “Oh my god they’re all dead” etc etc
Anyway, my moans aside, the film itself disappointed; the plot idea was definitely very good but the acting skills let it down a bit. Although there were some great moments, and some especially creative ways to kill yourself! However if there was a fantastic plot twist, I missed it!
In exam news - on Monday I am done with exams that matter! Only general studies to sit through on Tuesday - how dull. That means I get Bertie :D wahey!

My much awaited laptop has arrived :D Although due to exams and my dire lack in self motivation, I am not allowed to use it till next Monday. For all those who care, its a Dell Inspiron (Because I’m meant to be ‘inspired’ apparently) and most importantly it is a very sexy shade of red.
Having only taken it out of the box and looked longingly at it, I can’t tell if me and it will get along, but I have seen an inspiron in action and from what I could tell it seemed to be good. I can’t wait to use the built in webcam so watch out msn contacts, I may be bugging you!
*sigh* but for now I am sentanced to 6 days hard revision and exam-taking until I can finally break that baby open and power it up.
Oh also, I would like to officially christen it “Bertie”. Welcome to the family Bertie.
